Welcome to Action Planet:
Action Planet was part of the Valletta 2018 cultural programme, when Valletta, the capital city of Malta, served as the European Capital of Culture. This ambitious, nationwide project brought together people from all walks of life to discover practical and impactful ways to improve the environment, health, and wellbeing. For the first time, schools, outreach organizations, higher education institutions, NGOs, businesses, artists, and government ministries joined forces under one initiative. By encouraging open reflection on how daily lifestyle choices affect the environment, participants uncovered simple yet effective solutions.
The project incorporated research, media projects, focus groups, and speaker events, where participants collaborated to develop creative responses to Malta’s sustainability challenges. This effort empowered individuals with practical tools for lasting change.
From February 17th to March 18th, 2018, a student-led exhibition showcased art installations, photographs, and media projects by students from MCAST, the University of Malta, local schools, Inspire, and the Malta Sound Women’s Network. Featured in the Spazju Kreattiv season programme and endorsed by the Valletta 2018 Foundation, this exhibition celebrated the collaborative spirit of Action Planet.
By uniting these organizations in a shared commitment to sustainable solutions, Action Planet made meaningful strides toward a brighter future for all. Thank you to everyone who joined us on this pivotal journey.
