MCAST:
Action Planet is very proud to be collaborating with the Institute for the Creative Arts, MCAST. Local artists, NGOs, researchers and organisations will work alongside lecturers from the Fine arts, Media, Photography, Interactive Media and Performing Arts departments to inspire and support students to create artworks, installations, photographs, reports, performances and media projects for the Action Planet exhibition between February 16th – March 18th 2018. The exhibition forms part of the Spazju Kreattiv season programme at St James Cavalier in Valletta and is endorsed by Valletta 2018 – European City of Culture.
ART INSTALLATIONS:
1st year degree fine art students, under the tutorage of Ruth Ancilleri, are working with artists, chosen by Action Planet, to create 3 large art installations for the Action Planet Exhibition. The students are working with different mediums to explore how to effectively communicate sustainability issues and solutions to a larger audience through art.
The first group is being led by local artist, Jeni Caruana.
The second group is being led by Italian architect, Nunzia Martiello.
The third group is being led by graphic designers Matthew Cilia and Francesco Darmanin from Colours of Freedom. INTERACTIVE MEDIA:
Students from the interactive media department, under the tutorage of Redd Caruana, are working alongside NGOs to create a series of apps and corresponding websites. The students were given a list of app ideas to choose from and decided to explore the following themes:
